The SpotBot

You want to make sure that you are paying an appropriate price for your inventory, a price that matches the clicks and conversions that you’ll get from that placement. However, you don’t have time to trawl through mountains of data of every impression and click and lead for dozens of spots. It simply wouldn’t be efficient to do so, not to mention that a network wouldn’t be eager to hand over proprietary information to you.

So, our AdECN platform offers an important feature called the SpotBot. Taken verbatim from our friends at Microsoft, the SpotBot is a guarantee that an advertiser will not overpay for under-performing inventory. The SpotBot tracks the performance of every single ad spot — every location for every ad on every page on every site on the Exchange. After you place your bid for the impressions that you are looking for, the system automatically bids on auctions on your behalf for those impressions. Immediately before the auction, the SpotBot will check the spot’s history and relative performance compared to its peers. If the spot is comparatively underperforming, i.e. there are better deals available, the SpotBot will adjust your bid lower to match the relative value of the spot. If the performance of the placement is on target or is exceeding its peers, your bid stays the same. The SpotBot never adjusts bids higher, so you will never pay more than your maximum bid. This ensures value, operational efficiency, and allows for simple accounting.

It’s that easy. Remember, use of the SpotBot is completely optional. If you prefer some stability in your media buys, just uncheck the box and you’ll bid static rates all day long. Our feelings won’t be hurt if you don’t use the SpotBot. It’s just another tool for you from us to make your day a little easier.
